The NX-270 allows you to avoid using an underquilt down into the 30s F. But when you think temperatures might drop to freezing or below, you’ll love the Z-liner 270. The Z-Liner comes with a stuff bag large enough to hold the hammock when the Z-liner is installed.
Backpacker Magazine has named the NX-270 a “best new hammock” of 2017, calling it a “cold-weather fortress” and praising its spaciousness, “excellent livability” and insulating properties (See the review). The NX-270 combines our largest bed with flexible poles to create a more spacious feeling and an easier set-up than ever before. Like other North American style hammocks, the NX-270 is built for versatility and is ready for cold weather. The insulating pockets help you avoid bringing a pad or underquilt on warmer camps by allowing your boots and gear to create insulation against the cold. Interior zippers are used to conveniently access these insulating compartments.

Every NX-270 comes with two useful cold-weather features: First, the breathable WeatherShield zips in to transform the hammock into an enclosed tent, providing warmth, a wind break, or extra protection from rain and snow. Second, the insulating pocket system keeps you warmer in cold weather, removing the need for insulating pads when camping above 32 degrees F (0 degrees C).

The NX-270’s insulating pockets double as storage space for your gear. These six pockets are located underneath the hammock where you may store your boots and other gear during the night. Two more pockets are located inside the hammock, handy for storing anything from a flashlight to a pistol. The ropes are our strongest polypropylene (1710 lb. test).

Space-creating, flexible fiberglass poles; water-resistent, breathable WeatherShield; six large pockets underneath hammock bed designed to store gear and provide insulation against the cold; mosquito-resistant bed fabric; two interior pockets for small items; full No-See-Um netting has double zippers for highest level of versatility; 1710 lb. test polypropylene rope; no-tip design; built-in stuff bag system.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I buy the NX or TX model?

The NX series is intended for backpackers who will usually be camping in nighttime temperatures between 35 degrees F and 60 degrees F (2 – 15 C).  In these temperatures, the insulating pockets allow you to avoid bringing a pad or underquilt.  The WeatherShield (the breathable cover that zips over the netting) is standard on the NX models.

The TX models are intended for people who will usually camp in nighttime temperatures above 60 degrees F (15 C).  The TX is especially for humid hot climates.  The storage pockets are spread apart to allow you to feel cooling breezes and the head end has extra air circulation provided by the netted hood.  If you purchase the TX model with the WeatherShield option added, using a pad or underquilt makes it fully winterized.
