Features - North American hammock tent

The classic Clark North American model is now larger and more comfortable than ever before. Whether you are expecting six feet of snow or tropical conditions, the North American will serve you well.If you want the most versatility possible for the weight and packing size, then the North American is for you.

Charts, North American hammock tentEvery North American comes with two features you’ll only find on Clark 4-season models: First, the deployable WeatherShield zips in to transform the hammock into an enclosed tent, providing warmth, a wind break, or extra protection from rain and snow. Second, the insulating pocket system keeps you warmer in cold weather, removing the need for insulating pads down to 32 F. A matching Z-Liner underquilt can be installed to provide warmth down to 0 F or below (sold separately).

A protective sil-nylon tarp offers great protection from rain and wind. The tarp is attached for easy set-up, but easily detached when you wish to view the stars.

The North American’s insulating pockets double as storage space for your gear. These six pockets are located underneath the hammock where you may store your boots and other gear during the night. Two more pockets are located inside the hammock, handy for storing anything from a flashlight to a pistol. The North American’s ropes are our strongest polypropylene (1700 lb. test).

Features:
Waterproof sil-nylon rain fly is detachable; water-resistent, breathable WeatherShield; six large pockets underneath hammock bed designed to store gear and provide insulation against the cold; two interior pockets for small items; mosquito-resistant hammock bed fabric; full No-See-Um netting has double zippers for highest level of versatility; 1700 lb. test polypropylene rope; no-tip design; built-in stuff bag system; anti-stress bungee cords.

I have own and used a North American Hammock for nearly 10 years, I use it regularly either in the UK or the wilds of Finland. It is very well designed and made, quick an simple to put up and take down even in bad weather. The most important thing is it is warm and mosquito proof. I have used it in temperatures of -2 to30 Degree C. I have found that my feet can get occaisonally cold due to the single layer at the foot position however putting my coat or other insulation under my feet has cured this. The comfort is superb, I always get a very good night sleep. I am 5’7″ and weigh in at 190lbs so well within the weight limit. If I have a criticism it is the fragility of the plastic gooks that attach the tarp, I have broken one but replaced it. The standard tarp is more than big enough to protect the hammock and you r gear in a 90l Rucksack. The Polypropylene suspension ropes are easy to untie, non adsorbant, grip trees easily without damaging them and is very hard wearing. I have suspended it in the trees, buildings and between vehicles. All in all a great product that is my prized position for working in the disaster sector. This is my third hammock having tried cheaper version from the UK and Canada, however I would recommend the North American over any others I have tried. You get what you pay for..

I love my old North American that I started using over a decade ago as a camp counselor. I’ve changed out suspension etc, but my old North American lives on!

My most memorable experience with my North American hammock was a trip to Aspen Grove near Provo, UT in February. It was a cold night outside, but I slept in comfort. It’s always tough to leave such a comfortable bed in the morning.
