200 Series Hammocks: Q&A

Clark's new 200 Series is now available only in the North American style (NX-200). Here are some common questions about this larger model.

What is the NX-200?
The NX-200 is a larger version of the Clark North American model. The length of the NX-200 is 110 inches (2.80 m). The width of the NX-200 is 50 inches (1.27 m) at its widest point. The NX-200 weighs 3 lbs. 5 oz. (1.5 kg) and costs $369.00 US.

Who should buy the NX-200?
We constructed the NX-200 for people who are at least 6’ 3” tall (1.90 m). People up to 350 lbs. (158 kg) and up to 7 ft. (2.13 m) should feel comfortable in the NX-200.

Does the NX-200 have lots of extra room inside for gear or a second person?
No. The NX-200 is still a lightweight solo shelter and is not intended to hold more than one person. All Clark hammocks conform to your proportions. In other words, only large people can utilize all of the extra space by filling it with their body.

I have a standard-sized Clark hammock. Will the NX-200 feel more comfortable?
Yes and no. A standard-sized hammock can comfortably accommodate someone up to 6’ 5” (1.96 m) tall, but the extra length and width of the NX-200 allows almost any occupant to achieve flatter sleeping positions. Most people find a flatter sleeping position to be more comfortable. People who already like the standard size will need to decide if the flatter sleeping position justifies buying a heavier hammock.

Does the NX-200 hold more weight than the standard models?
The NX-200’s ropes have a breaking strength of 1710 lbs. The ropes on all standard-sized models have a breaking strength around 1200 lbs. Therefore, heavy occupants will enjoy a more favorable ratio between their weight and the rope strength when using an NX-200. Clark’s recommended safety weight limit is 350 lbs on all models.

Can you tell me about the Rain Fly that comes with the 200 Series hammocks?
200 Series hammocks will each come with an RX-200 Rain Fly. This fly is about the same width as the Rain Fly XL, but will be a foot longer. Please contact Clark if you would like to order the RX-200 with a standard-sized hammock for increased vertical coverage.

Will the Tropical and UltraLight models be offered in a larger size in the future?
The larger Clark Tropical (TX-200) became available in September 2008 at the price of $309.00. The Clark UltraLight will not be offered in a larger size.

When will CAMO versions of the NX-200 and TX-200 be available?
The CAMO NX-200 ($429.00) and CAMO TX-200 ($369.00) are now available in the "Camouflaged" section of our shopping cart.
