Lab Testing Results in a Mosquito-Proof FabricClark sets a new standard for the mosquito-proofing of camping hammocks
Salt Lake City - Clark Outdoor Products announced today that all Clark Jungle Hammocks are now being built with a lab-tested, mosquito-proof bed, the result of over a year of testing. A single layer of the new fabric is enough to ward off mosquitoes without the need for a false bottom or chemicals.
“Clark hammocks have become the gold standard for mosquito-proof hammocks, and we have excellent lab evidence to back it up,” says Glen Richards, Public Relations Director for Clark Outdoor Products in Salt Lake City.
Many months were spent working with a lab and manufacturers to produce a fabric that is breathable, water-repellant, light-weight, and 100% mosquito-proof.
“Clark is the first camping hammock company to produce a mosquito-proof hammock that doesn’t rely on multiple layers of fabric, a false bottom, or potentially dangerous chemicals,” says Richards. “Many of our customers said this wasn’t possible. The laboratory that provided the testing confirms that we have succeeded.”
Laboratory tests gave 300 hungry mosquitoes a chance to bite through the new fabric to reach a human victim. None were able to penetrate Clark’s new fabric which began to be used in some Clark models as early as April 2008.
Mosquito-proofing is only one change that Clark announced today. The Tropical model of the Clark Jungle Hammock also received several upgrades including pocket-flaps that help prevent poisonous spiders from entering, and a light-colored base which will keep the hammock cooler in warm environments.
“We wanted to find ways to make the Clark Tropical more perfectly suited to warm environments such as the Amazon,” says Richards. “We feel like the changes we’ve made will keep our customers cooler and more comfortable than ever.”
